Catherine V. Rousseau, Stow, Ohio – obit

STOW, Ohio – A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christine Church in Youngstown for Mrs. Catherine V. Rousseau, 96, formerly of Kent and Canfield, who died on Sunday, June 17, 2017, at Hospice Care Center in Akron.

Catherine was the first of nine children born to James J. and Rebecca (Bees) McHugh on April 2, 1921, in Youngstown.

She graduated from Ursuline High School in 1939.

Catherine was an executive secretary from 1941-1954 with General Fireproofing.

She married Arsene Rousseau on December 24, 1954. They had two children.

Catherine was a member of St. Christine Church, a member of the Ladies of Charity, was assigned to volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital, a member of the Madonna Guild and a member of the Glen Gardeners.

Being an avid reader, she took a course at the YWCA in Laubach Literary Action to help illiterate adults. Catherine was happy to enjoy many successes in this endeavor. She enjoyed needlework and bridge. Her favorite enjoyment was the large family gatherings and being with her numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Catherine is survived by her son, Ramon A. (Michelle) Rousseau of Stow; stepchildren, Joan V. (J.C.) Argetsinger of New York, Dr. William (Kay) Rousseau of Salem, Jean J. (Georgeann) Rousseau of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Robert M. Rousseau of California and a brother, Thomas J. McHugh of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arsene; her daughter, Francine; her three sisters, Joan McHugh, Rebecca Wilson, Mary Anderson and her four brothers, James J., Alfred J., Frances A. and Michael McHugh.

Friends may call on Friday, July 7, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
