BULLS GAP, Tennessee (Formerly Vienna, Ohio) – Richard “Rich” E. Rice, age 62, of Bulls Gap, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Rich was born on July 26, 1954 in Oakland, Maryland, the son of Stuart and Alberta (White) Rice.
He was a 1972 graduate of Mathews High School. Rich received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University.
Rich was an engineer with Barrette Outdoor Living, Bulls Gap, Tennessee for many years.
He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed nature, feeding his birds and deer, hunting and hiking in the mountains of Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his father, Stuart Rice and his brothers, Kevin and Steven Rice.
Rich is survived by his mother, Alberta; his sons, Jeffery Rice and Zachery Rice; his sisters, Maryann Reinert and Gina Hodgkinson and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon on Sunday, July 9 at the Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland.
The memorial service will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, July 9 at the chapel with Celebrant Randi Pappa officiating.
Inurnment will be held in Garrett County Memorial Gardens in Oakland, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to defray funeral expenses.
