GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – Warren R. Pilgram, age 95, of Fredonia Road, Hempfield Township, Greenville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2017 in St. Paul’s after a long and active life.

He was born in Greenville on January 9, 1922 to William F. and Grace C. (Leipply) Pilgam.

Warren attended the Snyder One Room School House, was a 1940 graduate of Fredonia-Delaware Joint High School, a 1943 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and during the 1960’s had taken courses at Youngstown State University.

In January 1943, he landed a job with Pan American Airways, New York City to work on airplane engines. When WWII started, he was sent overseas by Pan Am through the United States Air Force to be stationed in Casablanca, where he was assigned to maintain Pan Am C 54s hospital ships. Warren served as a crew leader maintaining the hospital ships until September of 1945.

In 1950, after returning to Mercer County, he purchased a 56 acre farm in Hempfield Township, which over time he grew to over 250 acres and continued to operate until just a few years ago. Also, during the 1950’s he was employed at the former Westinghouse Electric Corporation and from 1956-1982 he worked as a full time flight mechanic at the Youngstown Air Base in Vienna, Ohio.

Because of the passion Warren and his family have had for farming, he was proud to place his farm in the Farmland Preservation Program.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville and was a long time member of the Greenville Kiwanis Club. As a 32nd Degree Mason, he was a past Worshipful Master of F&AM Eureka Lodge #290 and was also a member of the Mercer County Shrine Club. He was a member of the Mercer County Republican Party and had served as a Party Committeeman.

Warren was an avid reader and will be remembered for being a loving and caring father.

On June 26, 1948 he married the former Helen R. Smith, she passed away on June 6, 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen E. Nallo and her husband, Rev. Dr. Larry T. Nallo of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania and Patricia L. Boura and her husband, Kerry of Greenville; a son, Kern A. Pilgram and his wife, Karen of Greenville; a sister, Doris Fisher and her husband, Jack of Savannah, Georgia; a brother, Paul Pilgram of Fredonia; seven grandchildren, Adam Boura, Diana Boura, Gregg Nallo and his wife, Josalyn, Ann Nallo, Kahla Hereford, Leah Pilgram and Ben Pilgram and three great-grandchildren, Adan Boura, Dracen Boura and Thomas Nallo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a grandson, Timothy W. Boura.

Calling Hours will take place Friday, June 23, 2017, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville, PA.

Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 323 Main Street in Greenville, with Rev. David A. Dobi, Pastor, officiating. Greenville VFW Post #3374 will render military honors at the conclusion of the service.

Interment will be held in Shenango Valley Cemetery.
