BEAVER TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A tractor-trailer flipped over Friday afternoon, blocking the road at State Route 164, also known as South Avenue extension.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the truck driver was headed eastbound on Western Reserve, turning right onto 164. The tractor-trailer flipped around 4:30 p.m. due to the weight of its scrap metal load and the driver’s speed, troopers said.
The truck driver was trapped inside but firefighters were able to pull him out and he walked away with only minor injuries. He was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
Something was smoking at the scene but Highway Patrol said there was no fire. The smoke likely came from oil or fuel leaking into the engine.
The trucking company, which is located nearby, was working to clear the scene.
The intersection is near the ramps for Interstate 680 on Western Reserve.
