YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Robert Wesley Cooke will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.E. Washington Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Lewis Macklin delivering the eulogy. Mr. Cooke, 69, departed this life Sunday, June 25, 2017.
Robert was born on June 13, 1948, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, a son of George and Vera Smith Cooke.
He was a 1967 graduate of The Rayen School.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam era. After being honorably discharged from military service, he became a deputy sheriff in Mahoning County. He furthered his career by becoming a Youngstown State University police officer, which he later retired from.
He loved spending time with family and playing with his electronics.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother; his children, Elvie (LaNisha) Cooke of Fortson, Georgia, Tracey Jones, Dolores and Tiffany Cooke, all of Youngstown and Melanie Cooke of Morrow, Georgia; his brother, Louis (Sherill) Cooke of Columbus; his grandchildren, Amber Jefferson, Rozaria Baldwin, Dominic and Dimitri McMutry, Nicole Jones and Anthony Foose; a great-grandson, Noah Jefferson and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends, including his former spouse, Jacquelyn Ratliff.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Walter Cooke and his father, George Cooke.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 1 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the J.E. Washington Funeral Home prior to the memorial service.

6:41 a.m. WYTV, 8:41 a.m. MyYTV, 9:58 a.m. on FOX, 12:25 p.m. WKBN, 6:58 p.m. on MyYTV and 10:37 p.m. FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
