SHARON, Pennsylvania – Wesley M. Guthrie, of Sharon, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at his residence after an extended illness, he was 79.
Wesley was born March 4, 1938, in Hornell, New York, the son of Chester J. Guthrie and Evelyn W. (Hollister) Guthrie.
He married Dixie Lee (Greenawalt) Guthrie on July 30, 1956 and she passed away on April 8, 2008.
He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1956 and was employed at Sharon Steel as a millwright for 27 years, retiring in 1992.
Wesley was a member of the Salvation Army in Sharon and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his daughter, Mary M. Zec and her husband, Rick of Farrell; sons, John W. Guthrie and his wife, Sandra of Sharon and Ronald A. Guthrie and his wife, Brenda of West Middlesex; five sisters; a brother; nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Scott Guthrie; granddaughter, Jennifer Sagenich; two brothers and a sister.
Calling hours will be held at 12:00 Noon until the time of service on Wednesday July, 5 at John Flynn Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2630 E. State St. in Hermitage.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. C. Eckles, pastor of I.H.S. Gospel Ministries, officiating.
Burial will be at America’s Cemetery in Hermitage.
