FOWLER, Ohio – The angels came to take Donald J. Cross, 78, of Fowler, home on Monday, July 3, 2017. He departed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 5, 1938 in Mannington, West Virginia, a son of the late James Cross and Julia Levelle Shingleton.
Donald married his wife Carole on July 17, 1958. During their 58 years of marriage together they enjoyed camping, boating, gardening and farming but most of all they enjoyed time spent with their beloved family. She survives him.
Besides his wife, Donald will be deeply missed by his son, Donald (Jayne) Cross II, of Warren; his daughters, Tina (Dana) Witherow, Rusty (Mark) DeJean and Ruby Barfay, all of Fowler; a brother, Timothy Fletcher; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry Cross and Homer Shingleton and a great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the Fowler Community Church, with Pastor Joel Dickson officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to services from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the church.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Cross are being provided by the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren.
