HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania – Margaret Jean “Peg” Hanson of Hermitage, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in her residence at The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley. She was 90.
Peg was born July 30, 1926, to Ellis and Hazel Perrine in Farrell.
After graduating from Farrell High School, she worked in the office at the Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. She later worked as a teacher’s aide at the New Virginia Nursery School.
She married her husband, Robert P. Hanson, in 1948, with whom she raised a son and two daughters.
Peg was a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church where she had served as secretary of the church council and the United Methodist Women’s group. She also sang in the choir.
Her hobbies included homemakers club, card club, bowling, gospel music and listening to or watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers games.
Peg was a kind and caring woman who loved her family, friends and church and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Surviving are two daughters, Karol Patton and her husband, Rob, Hermitage and Karen Meadows Lakewood, Ohio; a son, Kent Hanson and his wife, Van, St. Paul, Minnesota; a twin sister, Ruth Cairey, Hermitage; her grandchildren, Emilie Hanson, St. Paul, Kristen Keiser and her husband, Matt, Hillsdale, New Jersey, Kortney Meadows, Boston, Jackson and Ryan Patton, both Hermitage and great-grandsons, Simon, Elliott, Maxwell, and Oliver Keiser, Hillsdale.
Besides her husband, Robert, Peg was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Sabo.
A special thank you to all of the staff at The Ridgewood who cared for Peg and became so special to her in the three years she resided there.

Calling Hours will be held 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 10, in John Flynn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2630 E. State St., Hermitage.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, July 10 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Aaron Lego, pastor of Grace Chapel Community Church, Hermitage, officiating.
Cremation will follow services in the funeral home crematory.

6:41 a.m. WYTV and 8:41 a.m. MyYTV and 9:58 a.m. on FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
