CHARLESTON, South Carolina (Formerly Sharon, Pennsylvania) – Mildred L. Hart, of Charleston, South Carolina, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully in her residence on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the age of 90.
Born March 6, 1927 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Mae Marie Clune and Andrew Diegan.
Millie attended Sharon schools and was the oldest of nine children and helped raise them while her parents worked. An important role in her early years, she was a caretaker of the family and took pride in doing so and often would love to reminisce about her childhood memories.
After marrying Carl Hart in 1946 and raising four children, she later became a private nanny for several families.
Millie lived in Florida for many years near her son and daughter and enjoyed the constant sunshine.
Known as Mom, Nanny or Millie, she was loved by everyone who knew her. She had a positive outlook towards life and was blessed with gratitude for everything. She thanked all of her caregivers for everything and would tell all to come back and visit. She instilled these loving qualities into her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of the children she cared for throughout her life.
She enjoyed sewing, baking, doing ceramics, puzzles and playing cards but above all, she loved being with her family. Millie took pride in being a hard worker and will be remembered as an influential role model.
Millie is survived by her daughters, Patricia Misivich of Charleston, South Carolina, Carol Chiodo of Sharon, Pennsylvania and Susan Horton and her husband, Terry of Apopka, Florida; her son Carl “Skip” Hart and his wife, Deborah of Deltona, Florida; a sister, Carol Sue Oberhelman of San Bernadino, Calfornia; brothers, Bob Diegan of Vale, Oregon, George Diegan of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Ed Diegan of Lake City, Florida and Fred Diegan of Plant City, Florida; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
