CORTLAND, Ohio – Jerry T. Smith, 76, of Cortland, passed away early Friday morning, July 14, 2017, at his residence.
He was born September 20, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of David and Hazel (Schlegel) Smith.
Jerry was a 1958 graduate of East High School and was employed as a foreman for the former Packard Electric Corporation in Warren for 32 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1958-61.
He married the former Robin L. Clifford on October 8, 1994. They’ve shared 22 years of marriage and many happy memories together. She survives him.
Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, hunting, fishing, hiking and golfing.
Besides his wife, Jerry is survived by two sons, David (Melissa) Smith and Shawn (Shani) Smith, both of Braceville. He also leaves behind a sister, Joan Farmer, of Columbiana; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Sherry Lynn Smith and David George Smith; a brother, Tom Smith and a granddaughter, Samantha Smith.
Private services were held.
As an expression of sympathy, Jerry’s family suggests donations be made to Harbor Light Hospice, in his memory.
Arrangements for Mr. Smith were provided by the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 North Park Ave., Warren.
