Highway Patrol: Motorcyclist injured after driver failed to stop in Austintown

The crash happened around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Mahoning Avenue and Westchester Drive

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital after a collision with a car in Austintown early Wednesday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Roger Mosser, of Canfield, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Mahoning Avenue. He stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Westchester Drive when he was struck from behind by 53-year-old Donald Weyer, of Youngstown.

Highway Patrol said Weyer had failed to stop in time for the light, causing the crash.

Mosser was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.

His condition is unknown.

Weyer wasn’t injured.

He was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance.
