UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Rita M. Plyler, 83, of Union Township, passed away the afternoon of Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her residence.
Rita was born on November 17, 1933 in Butler, the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Anna Koehnen Nichter.
Her husband, Arnold G. Plyler, whom she married on April 14, 1973, passed away on April 28, 2006.
She was an active member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and was a member of the Clen-Moore Prime Timers group.
Rita enjoyed crafts, particularly quilting, painting and ceramics. She loved spending time with her family, especially during reunions, picnics and holidays.
Rita is survived by three daughters, Sherry (James) Hannon, Landsdale, Pennsylvania, Rita Ann (Kenneth) Davis, New Castle and Paula (Larry) Campbell, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two sons, Kip (Mary Ann) Rodgers, Lakeland, Florida and Larry Rodgers, Boardman, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Flores, Florida and Kristi (Tony) Henson, Austintown, Ohio; two stepsons, Steve (Amy) Plyler, New Castle and Michael (Marjorie) Plyler of Edinburg and Unity, Ohio; two sisters, Cathy (Jack) McCain of Butler and Joan (Jimmy) Haley, of North Carolina; a brother, Regis (Liz) Nichter of Butler and 30 grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Calling hours will be held from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, Pennsylvania.
A funeral service will be conducted in Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church on Friday, July 28 at 12:00 Noon with her stepson, Pastor Steven D. Plyler, officiating.
Interment will be held in Knox Dale Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Knox Dale, Pennsylvania.
