WARREN, Ohio – Vonda E. (Taylor) Douglas, 85, died on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital from complications from a stroke/fall.
She was born on December 15, 1931 in Falls Mill, West Virginia, the daughter of Guy and Golda (Willoughby) Taylor.
Vonda was a graduate of Burnsville High School.
She was a member of S.C.O.P.E. where she took chair yoga classes.
She was also a member of Champion Church of the Nazarene.
Vonda enjoyed shopping, gardening and cooking but most of all her friends and family.
She was employed as a telephone operator in Sutton, West Virginia and at Ohio Lamp in Warren, Ohio for a short time. She was also a fantastic mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Douglas; her daughter, Elaine Douglas (Jeffrey) Payne; her grandson, Cole W. Payne, all of Warren, Ohio; her brothers, Charles (Carol) Taylor of Debary, Florida and Thomas (Sandra) Taylor of Hicksville, Ohio; her dear sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews as well as her sweet caregiver, Brenda Byler.
Vonda was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 41 years, Donald J. Douglas, whom she married on July 2, 1955. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest, William and Homer Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be held at Heaters Cemetery in Flatwoods, West Virginia.
