WARREN, Ohio – Sam Murray, 86, of 1886 Ferndale Avenue SW, departed this life Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 8:25 a.m. at Community Skills Nursing Center.
He was born February 11, 1931 in Montgomery, Alabama, the son of Sampson and Bennie Mae Jackson Murray, Sr., residing in the area since 2001.
Mr. Murray was employed with TG Johnson Nursery for 25 years as a Gardener, before retiring in 1973.
He attended Triedstone Baptist Church and enjoyed watching TV and sports.
He leaves to mourn one son, Tony Murray; one stepdaughter, Ms. Dorothy Feagin-Shelby of Montgomery, Alabama; five brothers, Shed Murray, Sr., Rev. Sampson (Janice) Murray, Jr. and Larry Murray, Sr. all of Warren, John Murray of Montgomery, Alabama and James (Helenia) Murray of North Carolina; four sisters, Ms. Mary E. (Elbert, Sr.) Taylor of Warren, Ms. Katie Everhart of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Evelyn Murray and Ms. Johnnie Mae Murray both of Warren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timothy Murray; two brothers, Joe Murray, Sr. and William Murray, Sr. and one sister, Lillie B. Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Chapel.
Calling Hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
