CORTLAND, Ohio – Richard A. Bickel, 80, of Cortland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 16, 2017 surrounded by his daughters.
He was born April 15, 1937 in Champion, Ohio, a son of the late Harold and Martha (Goldner) Bickel.
Richard graduated from Champion High School, Youngstown State University and later from Pymatuning Bible College.
Richard worked for the Turnpike Commission for almost 40 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.
Richard was a strong advocate for the Boy Scouts and the YMCA. He enjoyed his family, farming his land and serving as an associate pastor at church.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Brenna (Rick) Rufener of Houston, Texas, Devon (Bobby) Perez of Katy, Texas and Erin (Josh) Blankenship of Jackson, Mississippi; stepson, Tony (Stacy) Emanuel; grandchildren, Brandon (Brandi), Shaun, Brooke, Payton, Dylan, Rylan, Brianna, Johnathan and Emily; great-grandchildren, Toby and Paisley; siblings, Harold (Phyllis Heitzwebel) Bickel, Jr, Gary (Barbara) Bickel, Verlinda Dill, Donna Gettig and Coralene (Efren) Torres; as well as his first wife, Vallentina Cunningham.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robbyn Bickel and beloved wife, Patricia J. Bickel; his parents and brothers, Gerald and Samuel Bickel.
Services will be held at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., where Pastor Mary Ann Rufener will officiate.
Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, Ohio.
