GIRARD, Ohio – Jane R. DeCenso, 95, passed away peacefully early Tuesday evening, September 12, 2017, at Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty Township, following a long and fulfilling life.
Jane was born October 30, 1921, in Girard, a daughter of the late Alex and Mary Mills Laringson and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Girard High School and helped with the manufacturing of artillery during World War II. She then dedicated the remainder of her adult life to raising and caring for her family.
Jane was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard and volunteered with various organizations at the parish.
Mrs. DeCenso greatly enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing and playing golf. Jane’s greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family.
Jane’s husband, Frank A. DeCenso, Sr., whom she married July 8, 1943, passed away January 15, 2015.
Jane leaves to cherish her memory a son, Frank (Denise) DeCenso, Jr., of Virginia Beach, Virginia and a niece, Janie (Harry) Dampf of Canfield.
Besides her husband, two sisters, Angela Naples and Phyllis Rizzi, preceded Jane in death.
Family and friends may call Friday, September 15 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State Sreet, Girard.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, at the funeral home and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main Street, Girard.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Jane will be laid to rest next to her husband.
