WARREN, Ohio – Margaret M. Gregory, 89, of Warren, died Tuesday evening, September 12, 2017 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 6, 1928 in Arcadia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John J. and Anne Nodesky Vargo.
Margaret attended St. Mary’s Elementary School in Newton Falls and Newton Falls schools, as well. She was a 1946 graduate of Palmyra High School in Palmyra.
She worked for 33 years as an inspector at General Electric Trumbull Lamp Plant, retiring in 1981.
Margaret was a life member of the VFW Newton Falls Post No. 3330 Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at St. Joseph Warren Hospital for many years.
She was an avid bowler and bowled on area leagues for several years. She had enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, roller skating and dining out. She loved ballroom dancing over the years with her husband, John.
She is survived by one daughter, Judith (Woodrow R.) Patterson I of Warren; one son, John P. (Debbie) Gregory, Jr. of Warren; four grandchildren, John P. (Cara) Gregory III of Belmont, Ohio, Melissa Florence (Jolan) Terrell of Massillon, Nicole Marie (Rich) Whitt of Canton and Woodrow R. (Heather) Patterson II of Warren; ten great-grandchildren, Elijah and Collin Steiner, David Hodgeson, Leah Pleacher and Icis Rose, Jade Marie and Journey Rush Terrell and Haylie Jean, Preston James and Parker John Gregory and one brother, Bud J. Vargo of California.
Margaret married the love of her life on June 10, 1950, John Preston Gregory, Sr. and they were married for over 36 years before he preceded her in death on December 6, 1986. One sister, Ann Vargo Paina also preceded in death.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, with Pastor Jim Dittmar officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. service time on Sunday, September 17 at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Champion Township Cemetery.
