2017 Big 22: Mathias Combs, South Range

South Range Raiders high school football Big 22 nominee

NORTH LIMA, Ohio (WKBN) – Senior wide receiver Mathias Combs returns after rushing for 104 yards and catching 12 passes for 336 yards and seven total touchdowns in 2016.

Question: What is your strength on the football field?
Answer: Whenever I’m out there, I just want to be, you know, the big play guy. We pound the ball for a little bit, get chunk by chunk, and then we have a big play. I want to be the big play guy that breaks us loose, kind of gets the crowd going, gets the team going, gets everyone excited, sometimes caps off drives or sets up other touchdowns just getting us close to end zone.

Question: Is there an NFL player that you emulate?
Answer: Definitely like the Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham without all the dancing type. You know, just being a player, just doing all the very exciting stuff, making big plays all the time. Just doing the little things right with route running, catching the ball with two hands. Doing all of that fun stuff.
