Gary L. Baxter, Masury, Ohio - obit

MASURY, Ohio – Gary L. Baxter of Masury, Ohio passed away at 7:35 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017, in Orange Village Care Center, Masury. He was 66.

Mr. Baxter was born October 23, 1950, in Sharon, a son of Charles E. and Sarah Jane (Quigley) Baxter and was a 1968 graduate of Sharon High School.

He was employed at different local steel mills and most recently worked in the information technology department for B.J. Alan Company, Phantom Fireworks, Youngstown, Ohio.

Gary was a member of First Baptist Church, Sharon.

He was an umpire for high school and college baseball and softball for several years. He also coached and managed the Carpo Russ Little League, Patagonia.

Gary enjoyed dogs, eating, the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was a lucky winner of $1,000,000 on a Pennsylvania scratch off ticket.

Gary is survived by two sisters, Shirley Sakony, Solon, Oho and Donna Farley, Sharon and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Baxter and a brother-in-law, Tom Sakony.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2017, in the Buhl Memorial Chapel of Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage with Rev. John Trojak, pastor of First Baptist Church, Sharon.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
