Highway Patrol: Medical issue caused deadly one-car crash in Canfield

The crash happened on State Route 62, north of Western Reserve Road in Canfield Township

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on State Route 62 near Leffingwell Road.

CANFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A medical condition is believed to have led to a deadly crash in Canfield on Monday afternoon.

Lynn Hawley, Jr., of Brookfield, was traveling northbound on State Route 62, north of Western Reserve, just before 4 p.m.

Ohio State Highway Patrol said his Ford Ranger went left of center, hit a ditch, and traveled through a cornfield approximately 200 yards.

Hawley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was shut down for about an hour while the scene was cleared.
