MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio – Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel, for Gary Lee Timko, 70, whom passed away on September 30, 2017.
Gary was born June 21, 1947 in Warren, the son of John and Betty (Smith) Timko.
He graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1966.
After graduation, Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969. He spent one year in Vietnam with the third and sixth artillery and was awarded, “The Army Commendation Medal”.
Gary worked for U.S. Steel for 12 years and in construction for 20 years before retirement.
Gary was an avid sports fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, Ohio State Football and YSU Football. He loved listening to all types of music especially live bands and enjoyed taking his sports car to car shows. His pride and joy was Sunni, who he called his granddogger.
Gary will be sadly missed by his son, Brent (Heidi Polonus); grandchildren, Chase Ramsey, Brody Polonus and Grayson Polonus; his long time companion of nearly 25 years, Vikki Greene and his former wife, Marjorie. He will also be missed by his siblings, John (Chicki) Timko and Wendy Lawrence Timko and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel.
The Timko family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to Louis Stokes Cleveland VA/ Wade Park Campus.
