GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – Alvin R. Hawes, age 73, of Columbia Avenue, Greenville, passed away Tuesday morning, October 3, 2017 in his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Jefferson, Ohio on July 28, 1944, to August and Mary Ellen (Brown) Hawes.
Alvin retired from the maintenance department of the former R.D. Werner Company, where he had been employed nearly 30 years. He had previously been employed as a police officer with Salsbury Townshp, Summit Township and Jackson Center Police Departments.
Alvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at Bear Camp. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
On May 27, 1963, he married the former Patricia Teter, she survives at home. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Tonya King and her husband, Bryan and Josie Smith, all of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lisa Ann Hawes.
A private family funeral service will be held Friday, October 6 in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
There will be no public calling hours.
Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery.
