Bettie Faye Madden, East Palestine, Ohio - obit

SWANSBORO, North Carolina (Formerly East Palestine, Ohio) – Bettie F. Madden, 97, of Swansboro, North Carolina, formerly a longtime resident of East Palestine, passed away Thursday, October 5 in North Carolina.

She was born February 21, 1920 in Salem, Ohio, daughter of the late Harley and Leora Randels Grove.

Bettie was a 1938 graduate of East Palestine High School and attended Wittenberg University in Beaver, Pennsylvania.

She was employed with the Curtis Wright Plant, where she made aircraft parts during WWII.

Bettie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Bettie is survived by three daughters, Barbara Yoho of Summerville, South Carolina, Margaret Hughes of Swansboro, North Carolina and Diane Murry of New Port Richey, Florida as well as six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years in 2011, Robert Madden, whom she married in 1943; her parents and two brothers, Robert and Charles Grove.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 13 at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Father John Madden officiating.

Interment to follow at Glenview Cemetery in East Palestine.
