NORTH LIMA, Ohio (WKBN) – South Range pounded Sharon, 34-14, sparked by three Peyton Remish TD runs.

The South Range Raiders used a punishing rushing attack, a stingy defense, and a few opportunistic plays to jump out to a 20-0 lead over Sharon in the first half, and they never looked back.

The South Range Raiders used a punishing rushing attack, a stingy defense, and a few opportunistic plays to jump out to a 20-0 lead over Sharon in the first half, and they never looked back. The win improves the Raiders to 7-0 on the season.

“We’ve been treating every game as a playoff game,” Raiders coach Dan Yeagley said about playing the independent schedule. “There are a lot of unknowns and they have to be able to react to those unknowns on the fly.”

The Raiders would rush for over 400 yards with senior running back Peyton Remish accumulating 203 yards on 27 carries, and scoring touchdowns from 9, 8, and 45 yards. Quarterback Aniello Buzzacco would add 120 yards on 12 carries and score a touchdown on a 4-yard run.

“The line did a great job blocking like they have done all year,” Remish remarked. “This is our house and we want to protect it at all cost.”

“We knew we were going to be physical coming into the game like we always do,” senior lineman Matt Brooks said. “We take pride in being the most physical team every time we play. Up front, we just have guys who love to hit people.”

“I’m exhausted,” Brooks added about how physical the game was. “This might be the most tired I have been after a game in a while.”

Right from the opening kickoff, the Raiders set the tone as they marched 79-yards on 13-plays with Remish scoring his first touchdown from 9-yards out. That drive would eat up 5:35 off the first quarter clock.

Then the Raiders used an opportunistic bounce to amp up the momentum. On the ensuing kickoff, the squib kick would settle between two Tigers players at the 35-yard line. As the Tigers players hesitated to recover the ball, the Raiders Isaac Allegretto pounced on the ball.

The Raiders took advantage of the miscue as Remish scored his second touchdown of the night 5-plays later to give the Raiders a 13-0. That score came with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter.

“That was big. I think that kind of took them out of their game a little bit early on,” Remish remarked. “We just kept rolling. It was good.”

“It was a fluke kick, and heads up by Isaac to recover that,” Yeagley said. “That was huge. Getting up by seven early on was huge in the very beginning and then being able to score again (was huge) because they (Sharon) are scary.”

South Range quarterback Aniello Buzzacco scored on a 4-yard TD run in the second quarter.

On the Raiders third possession of the game, they would push their advantage to 21-0 with a 63-yard drive with Buzzacco scoring from 4-yards out. That score would occur with just 1:20 let in the quarter.

While the Raiders offense was dominating in both yardage and scores, their defense was keeping an explosive Tiger offense in check. The Tigers would only tally 102 yards in the first half while also having two passes intercepted.

“We limited a great offense to only 14 points. That’s hard to do,” Brooks remarked. “They have so many playmakers but we limited them and we played really well on defense.”

The Tigers would finally get on the scoreboard at the 1:51 mark of the third quarter when Ziyon Strickland scored on an end around from 4-yards out. They would add a second touchdown with 3:18 remaining in the game when quarterback Lane Voytik connected with Tristan Ballard from 24-yards out.

The Raiders also added two second-half touchdowns as Remish gave them a 27-0 with 4:35 left in the third quarter on a 45-yard scoring run. Allegretto dove in from 3-yards out at the 7:31 mark of the fourth quarter that gave the Raiders a 34-7 lead.
