Maria "Elaine" Miokovic, Youngstown, Ohio - obit

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Maria “Elaine” Miokovic, 74, passed away peacefully Friday, October 13, 2017, at Assumption Village, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

She was born February 17, 1943 in Clymer, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Maria Stec.

The family moved to the Youngstown area in 1950, where she worked and raised her family.

Over the years she worked at Evergreen Bar and Tavern and more recently at Lowe’s in Boardman.

Her greatest joy besides her family, was Demon, her Maltese, whom she spoiled to no end and was her constant companion. She organized the Jack and Jill Chinese auction for the New Middletown Farmer and Sportsman Club for many years and was affectionately known as “The Cookie Lady” for her love of baking. Through the years she made countless sweets for holidays and special occasions including two weddings this past summer with the help of her niece, Lisa. She was an avid crocheter, making many blankets as gifts for family and friends. She was a member of various card clubs and bowling leagues over the years.

She will be deeply missed by her two sons, James L. Orr, Jr. and Thomas (Shelley) Orr; two grandchildren, Thomas (Kaylee) Orr and Katey Orr; four great-grandchildren, Carter, Paisley, Rylee and Colton; two brothers, John (Rosie) Stec and William (Gerrie) Stec and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bonita Stec; husband, Nicholas Miokovic and longtime companion, Howard Creps.

The family would like to thank the staff at Assumption Village for the compassion and care shown to Elaine and her family while she was in their care.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman, followed by a service at 7:00 p.m.
