LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Vernell “Pep” Williams, 68, of Liberty Township, departed this life on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 2:37 a.m. at Vibra Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
She was born on June 7, 1949 in Youngstown, the daughter of Willie A. and Lillie Zimmerman Williams.
Ms. Williams worked for the Leonard Kurtz School for many years as an aide and enjoyed singing, dancing and baseball.
She was a 1969 graduate of the Leonard Kurtz School.
She was a member of Greater Liberty Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and worked in the nursery.
She leaves to mourn her mother, Mrs. Lillie Zimmerman Washington of Campbell; one brother, Hollis (Patsy) Williams of Campbell; one sister, Ms. Verna Hamner of Liberty Township; six nieces, Mrs. Dena (Ronald) Pfenninger of Oberlin, Mississippi, Denitra Hamner and Ms. Danielle Hamner both of Liberty Township, Ms. Salinda Williams of Marion, Mississippi, Holly Williams and Ms. Nina Spencer both of Youngstown; one nephew, Ronald Cash of Youngstown; 15 great-nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Williams; stepfather, Stanley Washington; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert and Bertha Zimmerman.
The family thanks the staff of Accessible Homes, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Vibra Nursing Home for all their loving care and kindness.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Chapel.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Burial will take place at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 1085 Colonial Drive, the home of her sister.
