YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon Friday, November 17, at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home for Mrs. Delores Y. Nelson, 78, Youngstown, who departed this life Monday, November 6 in Southern Regional Hospital of Riverdale, Georgia.
Mrs. Nelson was born April 12, 1939 in Corinth, Mississippi, a daughter of Thomas H. and Ruby L. Taylor Burton.
She was a medical assistant for Dr. John McCann.
Mrs Nelson was a member of Church of Hope, served as Sunday School teacher and a member of its choir.
She was a 1959 graduate of Easom High School in Corinth, moved to Ohio in 1963 and attended Harding Business College.
Her Husband, David Nelson, whom she married April 7, 1973 died May of 1995.
She leaves her children, Howard (Faith) Southard, of Riverdale, Georgia, Anthony Southard, Andrea Southard and Faith Nelson all of Youngstown; siblings, Tyron and Margaret Sink, both of Copley, Ohio, Loletha (Ed) Landry and Marlane Burton, all of Fairfield, California, Tommy Burton of Youngstown and Tonette Burton of Richmond, California; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, William and Pearl Taylor; a brother, Gerald Burton and grandson, whom she reared, Timothy Southard.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, November 17 prior to services.
