AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Marlin “Whitey” Ford, 75 of Austintown Township and formerly of Lordstown.
Whitey passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Hospice House with his loved ones by his side.
Whitey was born February 28, 1942 in Wood, Pennsylvania, the son of Walter and Blanche M. (Conn) Ford.
He was a 1960 graduate of Robertsdale High School in Pennsylvania and retired from General Motors Lordstown in 2000, where he worked in the paint mixing room and was president of the UAW Local 1112 from 1974 – 1980. He was also the owner and operator of Lordstown Auction for over 20 years.
Whitey was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged December 15, 1961.
He was a member of the UAW and the Auctioneers Association.
He loved buying, selling and trading. Whitey also enjoyed traveling and gaming.
He leaves his wife, the former Patty Hunter, whom he married September 18, 1999; three daughters, Marilyn (Jeff Parker) Mitchell of Howland, Lou Anne (Robert) Keebaugh of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and Cassandra Ford of Pennsylvania; two sons, Edward (Clarissa) Ford of Niles and Scott (Kelli) Hunter of Boardman; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Whitey will also be sadly missed by his grand-dog, Oreo, whom he loved dearly.
Besides his parents, Whitey was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Ronald and four sisters, Carmen, Carol, Beverly and Barbara.
Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27 at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where services will begin at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44514, in Whitey’s name.
