Crews contain barn fire in Mahoning County

The fire broke out Monday at about 7:45 a.m.

GREEN TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Fire crews worked to contain a barn fire early Monday morning at a farm on Green-Beaver Road.

The fire broke out around 7:45 a.m. at an old horse barn that sits along the border of Green and Beaver townships.

Green, Beaver and Damascus fire departments worked together to contain and quickly put out the fire.

Assistant Chief of Green Township’s Fire Department Adam Noble said a heat lamp overturned inside one of the horse stalls, igniting straw.

“A passerby, actually one of the guys from our department saw it, stopped, tried to alert the owner — the owner wasn’t present. So, he was able to make the notification and we got here pretty quick and contained within two of the horse stalls that were inside,” he said.

Noble says the damage was minimal and that two cows and a dog were inside but got out safely.
