2 ramps along Interstate 80 to re-open this Thursday

The changes will be made by 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7

ODOT - Ohio Department of Transportation

(WKBN) – Christmas is coming early for travelers along Interstate 80. Some of the closed ramps and traffic changes that drivers have been dealing with for a couple of years are ending.

Beginning Thursday, Dec. 7 by 6 p.m., the following traffic pattern changes will occur:

  • All I-80 westbound traffic between State Routes 46 and 193/Belmont Avenue will be placed onto the newly constructed westbound pavement
  • The ramp from US 422 to I-80 westbound will re-open
  • The ramp from I-80 westbound to SR 711 southbound will re-open

For more information, visit ODOT’s website.

All traffic heading west on Interstate between Belmont Avenue in Liberty and State Route 46 in Austintown will switch back onto newly constructed pavement. The road has been leveled, the driving surface is new, and should provide a much smoother and more stable drive over the bridges as well.

Another big change is the ramp from I-80 west to the Route711 connector will re-open. That will make an easier trip to Girard and Youngstown.

Plus, drivers in Girard are ready for a big change. The ramp which lets drivers from Route 422 get on Interstate 80 going west will re-open.

Two ramps coming east on I-80 will remain closed for another week.
