SALEM, Ohio – Nancy C. Joseph, age 85, died at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Essex II of Salem.
She was born August 7, 1932 in Broomall, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Benjamin F. Crouthers and the late Edith May (Weaver) Shabacker.
She was previously employed as a bookkeeper at the Lit Brothers Department Store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after high school; was a homemaker and mother; an apartment manager at Packard House Apartments in Warren for eight years and manager at Ridge House Condos in Arlington, Virginia for two and one half years.
Nancy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the church missionary groups.
Sewing was her passion and she lovingly made clothes for herself, her daughter and granddaughters. She worked as a volunteer for Touching Little Lives, Inc. making burial gowns for stillborns as well as gowns for preemies.
Her husband, Ross C. Joseph, whom she married January 10, 1953 preceded her in death on April 2, 2017.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra L. Rivera of Salem; three grandchildren, Rachel Rivera, Sharon Fretwell and Gabriel J. Rivera and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, a son Barry R. Joseph; a brother Ben Crouthers and a great-grandchild, also preceded her in death.
Services will be held a later date.
