Barbara Jean Applegate, Alliance, Ohio - obit

SEBRING, Ohio – Barbara Jean (Berry) Applegate 88, of Sebring, Ohio passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 with her family present.

The daughter of the late Henry Ellsworth and Margaret Mae Berry, she was born July 23, 1929, in Sebring, Ohio.

She was a graduate of Sebring McKinley High School.

She worked as an executive secretary at Copeland Oaks and she was one of the original engravers at the Sebring Trophy Shop.

Barbara was a faithful and a very active member of the Sebring United Methodist Church and served as President of the Women’s Society.

She was an enthusiast of Sebring High School sports, scrapbooking and crafting. She will be remembered for her strength, creativity, intelligence and kindness as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and neighbor.

Survivors include her children, Chris (Kerry) Cochran, Terry (Lisa) Applegate and Carol Kline; daughter-in-law, Lori Applegate; grandchildren, Matthew, Erin and Allison Cochran, Nathan Applegate, Taylor and Mackenzie Kline and great-grandchildren, Cael and Bria Cochran.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman F. Applegate whom she married August 15, 1953; son, Gordon Applegate; brother, Clyde Berry and sisters, Eva Jane Berry, Janet Elizabeth Lieder, Eleanor Gertrude Waugaman and Jessie Margarette Row.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Elaine Weaver officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and an hour prior to the service on Saturday, December 22 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Sebring, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Sebring United Methodist Church.
