GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – Betty M. Johnston, age 81, of Sharon Road, W. Salem Township, Greenville, passed away Tuesday evening, January 2, 2018 in her residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Greenville on October 14, 1936 to George C. and Daisey M. (Hunt) Davis.
Betty was a 1954 graduate of Penn High School.
She retired from St. Paul’s, where she had been employed as a dietitian for ten years and had previously worked as a bookkeeper and attendant at the former Boron Gas Station in Greenville that she and her husband operated together.
She was a member of Crossroads Christian Fellowship, where she served as a greeter and was also very active with the nursery and youth. Betty was a former member of White Shrine #47.
On July 26, 1954, she married Vernon D. Johnston, Sr., he survives at home. Also surviving are four daughters, Daisy Smolnik and her companion, Ken Lucas of Butler, Betty Adams of Sharon, Shirley Patton and her husband, Roger of Greenville and Patricia McGhee and her husband, Timothy of Greenville; a son, George S. Johnston and his wife, Sally of Greenville; a sister, Doris Perschka of Sharpsville; a brother, John Davis of Greenville; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James R. Johnston and Vernon D. Johnston, Jr; two grandchildren, Georgia M. Johnston and Gary Smolnik, Jr.; six brothers, Albert Davis, George Davis, Fred Davis, Joseph Davis, William Davis and Donald Davis and a sister, Mary Simpson.
Calling hours will be held Friday, January 5, 2018, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main Street, Greenville, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 6, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Fellowship, 805 Vernon Road in Greenville, Rev. Todd Jaussen, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery.
