FARRELL, Pennsylvania – Joe C. Pulliam, a longtime resident of Farrell, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 in Sharon Regional Medical Center. He was 92.
Mr. Pulliam was born March 25, 1925, in Leasburg, North Carolina, a son of Joe and Nannie (Evans) Pulliam.
Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He retired in 1988 from Sharon Steel’s former Farrell plant, where he worked as a crane operator for 43 years. Additionally, Joe worked in several capacities for the Mercer County Blind Association in Sharon, an organization he held in high regard for his entire life.
He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Farrell, where he served as Trustee and Treasurer for many years.
Joe was a member of the Lions Club, VFW, Frontiers International, a lifetime member of the NAACP and was an associate member of the F.O.P., all in Farrell.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, the former Ruth A. Carter and their child, Ron Pulliam (Loren) of Pittsburgh; Ruth’s children, Steven Ellebie (Georgia) of Alexis, North Carolina, Rick Ellebie (Sheila) of Triangle, Virginia, Beverly Sapp of Farrell and Yolanda Harris (Eric) of Sharon and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Pulliam; six brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mercer County Blind Association, c/o Jonathan Fister, 1230 Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, Pennsylvania 16146.
Calling hours will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State Street, Sharon.
A celebration of Mr. Pulliam’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 10 in the funeral home, with Rev. Eric Harris, officiating.
Interment will be at Moorefield Cemetery in Hermitage.
