SHARPSVILLE, Pennsylvania – Vanessa M. Garrett, 62, of Sharpsville, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Vanessa was born on March 26, 1955 to Carmen and Mildred (Cupic) Messere in Sharon, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from Mercer High School, class of 1973.
Vanessa worked as a cashier for Hills Department Store and previously for the Sunset Drag Strip.
On January 31, 1976 she married her husband, the late James L. Garrett, who passed away July 18, 2014.
She enjoyed crocheting and craft shows. Vanessa loved keeping in touch with her family on the telephone. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Vanessa is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Kris) Ratkowski of Wheatland; sons, JC (Carla) Garrett of Hermitage and Jacob (Jill) Garrett of Hermitage; two grandchildren, Lexis Garrett and Adalynn Garrett; in-laws, James L. (Alberta F.) Garrett of Sharpsville; sister-in-law, Laurie (Jim) Carucci of Clark; brother-in-law, Richard (Sharon) Garrett of Sharpsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carmen Messere; her mother, Mildred Messere and her husband, James L. Garrett.
Friends may call Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Sherman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 2201 Highland Road, Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Ed Dailey, officiating.
Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery.
