SALEM, Ohio – David Wayne Grimstad, 59, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic after a two year illness.
He was born May 27, 1958 in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of B. Jean (Milton) Grimstad and the late Richard Arthur Grimstad.
David was a retired truck driver and had also worked for 30 years as a machinist at the family business RAG Tooling Company.
He was Catholic by faith.
He was a member of the Salem Amvets Post 45, Salem Eagle’s, The Salem Club, Army and Navy Garrison 422 of Girard.
He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club, camping, fishing, bowling and NASCAR racing.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Laurie (King) Grimstad, whom he married in April of 1978, on January 2, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his father, Richard Arthur Grimstad and a brother, Ronald Grimstad.
Survivors include his companion, Anita Hart of Salem; one daughter, Meghan Grimstad of Salem; his mother, B. Jean Grimstad of Salem; one sister, Marlene (Steven) Floor of Salem and two brothers, Richard (Patty) Grimstad Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina and Michael (Laurie) Grimstad of Salem.
Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Francis Burkhart officiating.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 at the funeral home prior to services.
Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
