POLAND, Ohio – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 19 at St. Mary’s Byzantine Church with Father Richard Lambert officiating for Rita Marie Strohmeyer who died Saturday morning, January 13 at the Hospice House.
Rita was born May 31, 1932 in Bazetta Township, the daughter of John and Anna (Rohr) Ramsey.
Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Church.
She retired after many years from Macali’s Giant Eagle in Niles.
Rita loved to garden, do cake decorating, canning and watch old movies. She loved children; especially her grandchildren.
Rita will sadly be missed by her children, Rita (John) Montic, Regis (Patricia) Strohmeyer, Jr., Dianne (Zephra) Frye, Eric (Sharon) Strohmeyer, Celeste (Mother Theodora) Strohmeyer, Lorraine (John) Magulick, Catherine (Mark) Rosine, Gregory (Robin) Strohmeyer, Rebecca (Chris) Prusha, Otto (Theresa) Strohmeyer and Mark Harvey, son-in-law. She will also be missed by 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Regis W. Strohmeyer, Sr. whom she married June 30, 1951 and who died February 24, 2016; her daughter, Charmaine Harvey; son-in-law, John Montis and brothers, John Ramsey II and Richard Ramsey.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, at the Lane Funeral Home-Mineral Ridge Chapel.
Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 19 at the funeral home prior to going to church.
Rita will be buried in St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery next to her husband.
A television tribute will air Wednesday, January 17 at the following approximate times:
6:41 a.m. WYTV and 8:41 a.m. MyYTV and 9:58 a.m. on FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
