WARREN, Ohio – William “Bill” Henkel, Jr., 88, of Warren, Ohio and Naples, Florida enjoyed a full life until January 17, 2018.
Born William John Henkel, Jr. on January 11, 1930 in Warren, Ohio, he was the son and only child of the late William and Margaret (Kunzler) Henkel.
Bill graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1948 and attended Kent State University.
He served four years in the United States Navy.
Bill was the founder and owner of United Auto Parts of Warren, Cortland and Champion, Ohio and West Middlesex, Pennsylvania. He was also the owner of Auto Parts Warehouse of Warren, Ohio.
He actively supported and belonged to various local business organizations including the Warren Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a long-time member of Trumbull Country Club, where as a youth, he spent his summers as a golf caddy, his introduction to the sport he loved. Bill spent most of his winters in Naples, Florida enjoying his appreciation for the game of golf. His family and friends were the cornerstone of his life.
Bill, a loving husband, amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather is survived by the love of his life for 58 years, Geraldine “Jeri” Henkel and three daughters, MargaretAnn (Mark) Stephan, Patricia Organ and Gretchen Davis. He was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, Brandon, Halle, Jessica, Parker, Turner, Barrett, Addison, Mitch and Briggs and one great-grandson he absolutely adored, Weston.
He thrived on being an integral part of not only his children’s lives but of his grandchildren’s lives as well.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends in Naples, Florida.
