...An intense snow squall will affect Lake...northern Trumbull...
Ashtabula...Geauga...northeastern Cuyahoga and southwestern Crawford
Counties Until 700 PM EST...

At 503 PM EST, radar indicated an intense snow squall extending
across extreme northeastern Cuyahoga County towards Chesterland, or
8 miles southwest of Chardon, moving east at 20 mph. Motorists
traveling on Interstate 90 east of Cleveland and Interstate 271 near
Highland Heights should be especially careful. Additional snow
squalls with abrupt reductions to visibility will continue at times
across northeast Ohio this evening.

HAZARDS INCLUDE... Visibility rapidly dropping to less than a
quarter of a mile with snowfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour.

Locations impacted include...
Painesville, Ashtabula, Willowick, Meadville, Conneaut, Chardon,
Jefferson, Fairport Harbor, Geneva-On-The-Lake, Euclid, Mentor,
Cleveland Heights, Willoughby, Eastlake, Warrensville Heights,
Cortland, Geneva, South Russell and Madison.

Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this snow
squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads are
likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the
squall passes your location.

WERE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS PERSIST.

* TIMING...THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF TONIGHT.

* WINDS...WEST 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE-EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE
INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE
CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CLEVELAND HAS ISSUED A LAKE
EFFECT SNOW WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST SATURDAY.
THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO LOCALLY 9 INCHES...ESPECIALLY NORTH OF
CORTLAND.

* TIMING...HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE NORTHERN
HALF OF THE COUNTY THROUGH TONIGHT.

* IMPACTS...LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND SNOW SQUALLS WILL LEAD TO RAPID
ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW AND VERY POOR VISIBILITIES AT TIMES.
HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED.

* WINDS...WEST 10 TO 20 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...DROPPING INTO THE TEENS TONIGHT. WIND CHILL
VALUES POSSIBLY DIPPING INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS TONIGHT.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW
IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. DURING LAKE EFFECT SNOW...THE WEATHER
CAN VARY FROM BANDS OF LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW TO DRY WEATHER JUST A
FEW MILES AWAY. VISIBILITIES CAN VARY GREATLY AND CAN DROP TO
NEAR ZERO IN THE HEAVIER LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS. IF YOU WILL BE
TRAVELING IN THE WARNED AREA BE PREPARED FOR RAPID CHANGES IN
WEATHER...VISIBILITY AND ROAD CONDITIONS. LOCAL TRAVEL
RESTRICTIONS MAY BE IN EFFECT.
